I'm running Microsoft Office 2000 Professional and Windows 98SE. I've
installed all updates for Office & WIn98SE.

Word has been working on my PC but has now stopped working. When I try to
open Word I get the following error message:

WINWORD caused a general protection fault
    in module <unknown> at 0000:00000038.

I've uninstalled Office and then re-installed but it keeps comingup with the
    same error message.

    Any ideas?

With Word closed, (since you can't open it that won't be a problem) delete
the data registry key located at:
    HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\(version number)\Word\ and delete
the entire Data Folder on the left. Now search your drive for Normal.dot
and delete any you find. Now open Word...
