  4. When I used the link it offered me the W2k SP4 patch. Just use Microsoft
Update or Windows Update. They get it right.

Thanks for trying Andre. I would love a direct link since I can't use
Microsoft Update without a lengthy process, due to the installation of a
browser accelerator which doesn't work with MU. It has a 16 bit uninstaller
and has to be uninstalled first. enough said.

    This one http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-001.mspx
brings you to the patch for all OS'es.

  7. Actually, I wasn't putting a direct link to the patch, just the press
    release from Microsoft about it.

  9. I would actually like to share my little secret for the download link.
When I get to the KB article download page, instead of pressing the
"download now" button I right click on the web page and choose "view code"
    instead.
I then search the text opened in notepad for the download link and paste it
into my favourite download manager, i.e., flashget.
I then choose to download it right away or program it for later, i.e., when
    I'm sleeping.

Saved me about an hour messing around. I can 'borrow' a 32-bit uninstaller
from a Macromedia app for the uninstall, but it leaves a few items I have to
clean up manually. One of the programs I have with a 32-bit installer and
    16-bit uninstaller.
Thanks for the other tip also.

Have you not tried disabling the browser accelerator by killing the process

Killing the process or exiting leaves the proxy address behind and nothing
will connect, in x86 I can stop the program and it resets the proxy, but
    that doesn't work in x64 (IE32).
