Microsoft Office 2003 (Word)

Discussion in 'Windows 64bit' started by =?Utf-8?B?U3RldmU=?=, May 31, 2005.

  1. I'm getting the following message when I try and open Word 2003.
"The image file (null) is valid, but is for a machine type other than the
    current machine."
All of the other shortcuts work for the Office programs except Word. Even
if I drill down to WinWord.exe, I will still get the same error and Word
    won't open.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks....

  2. Is this a fresh installation? Tried doing a repair? (add/remove
    programs, Microsoft Office, repair option)

Steve, do you have the latest patches installed? And, did you install Office
to XP x64, or are you running it from another partition where you installed
    it to an earlier OS?

  4. It was a clean install to a newly partitioned drive. I should have tried the
restore/repair option like mentioned, but what I ended up doing was going
through the .cab files, and extracting winword.exe over the one that must
have been corrupted. The file size was different and the new one actually
showed the "w" icon, where the problem one didn't. This fixed the problem.
Thanks to both of you for your suggestions.....

  5. I would just uninstall Office 2003, delete the programs file folder for
    Office and do another install.
