Microsoft and Patents

Discussion in 'NZ Computing' started by Lawrence D'Oliveiro, May 19, 2009.

  1. Did you know that, for many years, Microsoft forced Windows resellers to
sign a contract that prevented them from asserting any patent claims against
    it?

Then came the Eolas case, and Microsoft was on the losing end of a half-
billion-dollar patent claim. After that it abandoned the non-assertion-of-
patents idea, and looked at patent cross-licensing instead.
