I'm running XP Home. I just added another 256 memory stick which has
been recognized in Cmos. It reports 512 mb.

However, System Properties in CtrlPanel reports 224 mb.

    Why is this, please?

    One possibility (though unlikely) is:

Click Start, Run. In the Run box, type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and
press Enter. Click the "Boot.ini" tab, click the "Advanced Options" button
and make sure that the box, "/MAXMEM=" is unchecked.
