MCSE security exam, which one?

Discussion in 'MCSE' started by =?Utf-8?B?RmVybmFuZA==?=, Sep 14, 2007.

  1. Hello,

    I've got a question:

I'm already MCSE certified and want to go for the Security certification.
There are 2 or 3 exams left (i suppose)
    70-227, 70-350 en de 70-298
    227 installing,configuring and administering a ISA 2000 server
    350 implementing a ISA 2004 server
    298 designing security for a 2003 network

The following exams 270,290,291,293,294,297 and 299 are already completed

Should I go for both 227 and 350 or only the 350?

    Thank you in advanced

  2. Since you only need either 227 or 350 I would recommend going for 350 since
    that's the newest product.
Chances are that most of what you learn from that will be bacwards
compatible if you need it to be and 227 is scheduled to be retired in March
2008 so 350 will obviously be relevant for longer...
    Well, in my eyes anyway...

Maybe it's a case of the Fridays, but that made me chuckle.

  5. You'll need to take 298 for the design requirement, and don't forget that you
can take Security+ as an elective for the security specialization if you have
no experience using ISA. If you do, then 350 would be your best bet.
