    Hi all,

I'm currently studying for this in XP and was expecting to be exam-prepared
    for the summer

Please could you give me some advice now that Vista is out?

    1) Is it worth doing the exam anymore and will it still be available? If so,
    how long for?

    2) Is there a more convenient Vista course I should take instead, e.g. this
new MCITP qualification I've read about?

    Cheers in advance

There will be an upgrade test for going from XP to Vista.
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/vistaupgrade/default.mspx

Other points to consider, XP will be around for a long time

Also the cert in XP will be more than a good foundation for Vista.

    my 2¢

Microsoft has extended "coverage" of XP.

Thanks Richard, do you know if the examinations for XP will still be running
for the next year or so?

I don't know, but I did search this site, and nothing was written about the
    end of the
XP DST cert, so that could be considered good news.

  6. If the past dictates the future, the exams and support will be around
for Windows XP for awhile. I will check my contacts in Redmond and see
if there is an exact answer for you. As far as pursuing your MCDST, go
for it. You will not be wasting your time or money.

    Hi BakerBoy,

The MCDST exams will be available through 2008 at least. You should
definitely write them because that is the present. No question that Vista
is the future, it will always be nice to be certified on multiple platforms.

    Good luck!
