This should work for you, but take care about how you filter things. You do
not want to kill a legitimate email from MS. You may one day visit their
site for some tech help, and they may email you back. You will therefore
never get your reply. From time to time, I have emailed them for some
assistance. They take a few weeks at times, but they have answered me.

Use combinations that fit the common subject. I would not block the
complete possibility of having a legitimate email.

I was surprised to get an email from them when I asked about windows
update, and they replied fast AND fixed my windows update...imagine
    that.

I believe the trouble you're having may be the same as me. You're
receiving Spams that look like they're from Microsoft but aren't.
They usually contain an attachment containing a worm virus ending in
    zl9.

If you have added this to your blocked sender list, they may still
come through because even though they say from microsoft they are
coming from different false email addresses all the time. If you open
the email and right click on the from address where it says microsoft
and click properties you can see the email address they have sent it
from, or the one they have entered so you think it is from there.

I have tried to set up a filter so that it doesn't download any
messages contain the extension .zl9 as well as a few other things.
Obviously if you're using the word microsoft to filter it's not ideal
if you are receiving a legitimate email from MS it may get deleted as
    spam.

I've still got to check how effective my filtering is until I decide
which anti-spam program to go with from all the suggestions.

The best filters are ones that your ISP uses. For example, all my public
mail initially goes to addresses which I have
forwarded to my main/primary POP address at my ISP.

My last ISP did a good job, and even kept getting better at it, but the
one I just signed up with does a wonderfull job. They must hate spam
    even more than I do.
