    No, they're perfectly legitimate.

They'll probably need you to pay a deposit to enable them to get the
millions to you (probably taxes or something), but you can completely
safely hand over your life's savings, as you're almost definately
    going to get the millions.

With each word uttered you just move the moron assessment from
"reasonable doubt" to "beyond all doubt". If you even consider that an
email from a lottery in another country that you didn't enter is
legitimate then you are a moron and should get off the net for your own
protection before you get conned and lose all your money.

How do youexpect to win a large lottery prize when you haven't bought
a ticket? They don't hand out money for free. It is a scam baited to
catch those whose judgement goes out the window at the thought of
    winning lots of money.

I'm always devoting my time and resources to surfing the world wide
web (WWW in case anyone forgot) with their email addresses. How come I
    didn't win?

My biggest problem is figuring out whether the email address comes
before or after the www. Damn URLs.

Obviously: 'sounds dodgy, but too good to pass up if it's not' (or word to
    that effect).
And then he took the sensible step and checked it out.
