TBR writes "As implied by the title, Linux In Easy Steps is an introduction
to the open source operating system and is targeted very clearly at new
    users.

    Notice the numbers:

Just to be fair, the flipside:

With market shares at roughly 9 to 1 but the results ration more like 2
    to 1, I don't think that's too bad.

338,00,000 Problems with Windows seems rather conservative. Thanks for
posting nothing relevant to the article but pointing out that MS has spent
over 20 years and billions of dollars producing one of the most insecure
    and unstable consumer products ever.

What he posted is IMHO irrelevant anyway, as the the average windows user
hasn't a clue how his OS works, & could no more install Windows or fix
problems with it, than he could fly. So installing a linux distribution or
fixing problems, would present him with the same things. (Though if you
check the link to "problems with linux" you'll find the majority are only
    minor problems).
With Windows, ease of use and sales are VASTLY more important than any
reliability or security aspects ever were (even today, sales is more
important than security, although security is becoming more important
because it IS affecting sales. It seems some people are moving away from
    Windows to other OSs).

In fact a great number of windows users haven't any idea about viruses, or
even if their machines /are/ zombied.

Although this is from 2004, if you take a look at the number of /current/
zombied machines listed at Ciphertrust (URL below) you'll see things
    haven't changed much. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3708260.stm

If you want to know current zombied machines, see here:
