I recently did a hard drive upgrade / XP Pro re-install on a Dell
Inspiron laptop at my work and have been having strange problems with
the audio and mouse. When the music manager is launched, WMA & MP3
music plays ok for a while but eventually starts speeding up or
slowing down in a jerky manner. The mouse pointer also seems to skip
or jerk in a non fluid manner intermittently (most noticable in his
work or home docking stations). None of these problems happened prior
to the XP reinstall. All XP patches & updates have been applied. No
CPU or memory spikes noted in task manager when the mouse & audio
problems take place. FindFast disabled. All drivers specific to his
Dell are updated to what's most current on the Dell website (including
integrated audio drivers). I did notice that his new hard drive seems
to have an unusually high amount of activity regardless of what apps
are running - not sure if it's relevant. Any suggestions?
