Easyshare 4.02 Download is "temporarily unavailable".

As a member of the uunhappy tricode error sufferers, I can tell you
    why....

Windows Installer 3.1 broke it, and I'd call that an error in backward
compatibily of the Windows Installer ... how many more programs will
it break, and you pull out that program that's got a dead supplier, or
no more updates unless you buy a new version, and IT WON'T INSTALL.

It's something that Microsoft SHOULD be fixing, by paying better
attention to backward compatibility, but I fear that it's something
that Kodak will end up having to fix, and anything un-updated (unless
it escapes the problem) will be instantly obsolete.

    Greetings Matt,

We have taken on that task and an updated fix is in the works. I suspect it
will be available within the next hour or so. Our teams worked on this
continuously for the last few days to get thing reviewed, edited, updated,
quality checked and then reinserted into download option. Your patience was
appreciated while we completed this fix for you.

Watch for the download options to return this afternoon.

    Talk to you soon,

    Ron Baird

    Now Sorted, Thanks

It still took me two attempts - anyone who tried previously and failed
    - CLEAR YOUR CACHE.

it appears that it may scavenge an old file from cache, and lose the
fix, as the first time I tried the fixed install, it errored the same
way, despite appearing to download all components.

I've warmed to Easyshare a little - I do like the collating by date
    taken.

It just beats me that Microsoft can do something that messes things up
like this... I'm just wondering how many things it's taken out that
    are NOT currently updated.

I suppose this is one case wher the online install means there are no
saved copies out there that will lack the update, other than purchased
    CD copies.
For those with CD writers, maybe a slipstreamable fix would be
    possible?

MS can do just about anything they want. The last round of 'fixes'
fixed things so I can't share the files in the application data
directory between computers. No mention of that in the update. Damned
    inconvenient for my purposes.
