    Hi guys,

I have recently downloaded Windows Vista 32-bit version where it ended
up with a .iso.dlm file size of 3.12 GB.
I am unable to write this image onto a DVD. when ever i try to burn
using Nero 6.0 initially i get a error stating "the entered block size
does not correspond to the image length,The block size may be wrong. Do
you want to correct the value or ignore the problem" If i opt for
correct it does not differ much insteat i get the error again. If i try
to ignore and write the image onto a disk..the writing process
continues, but at the end i do not find the contents in the DVD but the
burning process would have spoiled my DVD for next use...

I have already waste 5 DVDs in burning Windows Vista.. I am out of any
    alternatives in burning...

Request you all to suggest me how to go about this at the earliest...

    Regards,
    Narendra

I'd suggest that the download is corrupted. Maybe you should order the DVD.

I suppose your downloadmanager didn't finish it's job. The .dlm extension
suggests that it's a temporary file, which dissapeares after the download
    is finished.

..dlm is wrong for the file extension.

I think I had the same msg from Nero a few years ago for something else.
A bit of www.google.com , searching cdfreaks forum helped.

It's really isn't worth all the pain and wasted DVDs.

    >Request you all to suggest me how to go about this at the earliest...

I am guessing you can order the DVD from MS, but I get mine from the MS
Technet Plus Pack subscription, along with lots of other server / office
    apps all non evaluation versioan.

One of the usual replies to this sort of topic, is if you can't get this
right how will you cope with installing / removing some beta OS with out
    wrecking your PC.

The file is very likely corrupt. Verify it with the tool listed below.

    vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso

    MD5:

Download it again, sounds like you are missing a bit and have an incomplete
    ISO image.

and if, when you have finished the download you're finding that you
practicly have two files: one ISO(2.49GB) and on ISO DLM(3.2GB) what
    are you choosing?
    which is the good one?

The file saved without the DLM extension, except when it's the wrong
    size.

The one Nero (other burning tool) doesn't object to with the block size
error, before you burn. I aborted a d/l of the x64 image to check, got
the error in Nero, then continued until completed and Nero burnt it
    fine.

Used the recommended d/l manager method,
    vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x64fre_client-LB2CxFRE_EN_DVD.iso
file on disk properties - 4.01 GB (4,309,368,832 bytes)
    rounded figure in explorer, 4,208,368KB

Didn't really intend to look at the 32b ver, however

    vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso

when you allow the d/l manager to start, the value in the size field is
    - 3.13GB, the status field says allocating 3.13GB, go figure.

during this process the filename is
    vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso.dlm
file on disk - 3.12 GB (3,355,602,944 bytes)
    rounded figure in explorer, 3,276,953KB

You would think MS hadn't heard of md5, but it's most likely checking in
the d/l manager which is why they say to use it.
