Has Xtra's spam filter gone on the blink? Normally I only receive one
or two pieces of spam a day. Today I've received around twenty so far.
    WTF is going on?

They're busy setting up their smoke and mirrors 'Yahoo Bubble' webmail.
Too busy to provide any 'service' to us mere customers like maintaining the
    spam filters.

I am seeing see more spam in my inbox,
but less spam in my inbox + spam folder combined.

It would appear that Xtra's pro-active spam filter is working better,
but Xtra's reactive spam filter is hardly working at all.
    (See http://xtra.co.nz/products/0,,11194,00.html for a brief
description of Xtra's pro-active and reactive spam filters.)

I suspect it is all related to Xtra switching their e-mail systems
this weekend. Xtra have sent out an email today about this move,
but the @#$%&*! idiots back-dated the email to 16 July so it is
way down in the inbox and can easily be missed.

Spam has been coming past the filters for a week or two now.

When they first started filtering, I was getting several spam a day.
This would have been 2 or 3 years ago IIRC. I would round the spams
up each week and mail them back to the spam-report address. Then for
a long time we got no spam through at all, and no false positives in
the spam filter on webmail, either.

Lately, the occasional false positive, and 2-3 spam a day on average.

I did get an email about "Yahoo Bubble" today - as you say backdated
30 days, I only noticed it because of wondering why I had one unread
email that was invisible. But it's all bullshit and flannel, nothing
    about the 24 hour outage.

PS We keep emails on the server for 3 days after downloading, so we
can get them onto several machines. This evening around 6pm, the
posts still on the server all came down again - presumably because
xtra had handed the baton to yahoo. But still no access to webmail.

I have had one every second day for the past two weeks.

Before that I had one spam in the whole of July,
two in June, six in May, 22 in April, 14 in March,
36 in February, and 2 in January.

So the last 2 weeks are still equal to or better than
    February through April for me.

I believe they got the big improvement when they switched from using
Brightmail to some other spam filter.

Lately only 1 every other day here.

Yours is a very accurate description of that email.
