Is there any Spam reporting?

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Barry F Margolius, Dec 19, 2006.

  1. Another mail provider that I use sends me a daily list of all the spam
messages that it has held hostage for me. Is there any way to do this
    with the Panix mail system?

    Thanks,

No, but panix has a good system for handling spam, including serverside
    rejection http://www.panix.com/help/mail.spam.html Dealing with
Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE, "email spam")
    http://www.panix.com/help/spamblock.html New mail system: Advanced
    Anti-Spam Options

You could configure to block/reject some with Panix and put something
like SpamPal between you and your mua mailuseragent to tag the spam that
    Panix passes.

Thanks. I'm familiar with those options. My problem is that when I
have a lost email, and I have to check my spam rejects, I now have
three different places to check: two different mail providers, and my
local spam protection. If I could get rejection reports delivered to
me, then I could just search locally. It's not a big deal, but it
    would have been nice.

Panix is a pretty old, as ISP's go. It predates things like SLIP/PPP
and graphic browsers. Do you have access to a Unix shell account and,
in particular, the procmail mail filtering progran?

I think I still have access to a Unix shell account, though it's been
a long time since I've used it. I do not know about the procmail
    filtering program.
