    Hello All.

My computer has just developed the following problem with Internet Explorer.
A new toolbar has appeared beneath the standard one, involving a search
facility (linking to something like Open Web) and tabs for news, MP3,
gambling and other staff. In addition, occasionally advertisements appear at
the bottom of the explorer window, the home page has been altered and other
popup windows appear at random. Furthermore on the desktop, new icons have
made their appearance, something like Casino Online, Find a Date and so on.

The funny thing is that this happened while I left my computer running. I
didn't download suspicious material myself (at least knowingly) or opened
email attachments that I shouldn't. Norton Antivirus was running all the
time and Windows firewall is activated.

Anyway, if anybody can shed some light on what is really going on, as well
as any suggestions for restoring the system, would be most helpful.

For reference, I'm running Windows XP SP2, IE6, Norton Antivirus 2005 and I
think that everything is up to date.

    Thank for your help.

    Friendly, Kostas.

ok norton av..i had the amazing surprise lately that comparing to other av
programs, it doesnt detect crap.. symantec is a big name but since the day i
tryed nod32, and avg, norton was history... as for your tool bar, my thought
is u probably got it from some crap norton did not detected or if you have
other ppl at home using your pc. secondly have a spyware scan, hopefully you
have one if not get msoft anti spyware or spysweeper.
