Interesting days ahead for Apple.....

    in the past there seems to have been a lot of contention / claims from
    Apple lovers that that no matter how weak the PowerPC chip was in
    reality, their perception was that it was always faster than a Intel
    box......

    This is despite looking at tests showing a Dell workstation running
    rings around a Apple workstation...

    This article tends to suggest Apple's move will pay big dividends on
    performance.....

    But, in the mind of the powerpc proponents, the mac will become slower after
    moving to intel. Very strange.

    Hopefully cheaper!.....open up a huge array of GPL software, more
    hardware choice......apart from the cpu and motherbaord, most of the
    bits are PC lineage anyway.

    10.4 is very nice....leaves XP for dead.....ditto KDE, Gnome.
