Intel To Go "Upstream" From Atom

Discussion in 'NZ Computing' started by Lawrence D'Oliveiro, Apr 18, 2009.

  1. Good news: netbooks are hot, and most of them seem to be using Intel Atom
chips at the moment. Bad news: margins are low. So what's Intel to do? Plan:
try to move to products with somewhat higher margins, namely "thin and
light" notebooks, where AMD has already jumped in.

Problem: this could just be leaving the door wide open to the arrival of
    ARM-based netbooks.
