installing WinXPx64 on ACER partition

Discussion in 'Windows 64bit' started by =?Utf-8?B?SmF5IE4=?=, Dec 7, 2005.

  1. I have the Acer Aspire Turion 64 notebook with dual 45 gig partitions. I have
converted both of them to NTFS using convert. I want to set up XP64 on the
second partition now but I feel like it would be better to do a clean format
on the second partition. Is there any difference between using convert on the
partition and doing a fresh format?

  2. Since you have to do a clean install of XP Pro x64 anyway, simply reformat
    the partition during setup.

In general, the file system will usually perform better if you do a format
than if you do a conversion, but it won't matter in this case.
