Info about Viruses & MaiWasher

Discussion in 'Computer Information' started by Wayne R. Russ, Apr 23, 2004.

  1. Hello Everyone,

I was searching for information on MailWasher and I found this site,

    http://www.callapple.net/SPAM-Mailwasher.html

At the bottom, printed in blue, , is some information about the I Love
You virus and how to combat it. Just above that, printed in black, is some
    stuff about the BadTrans virus.

My question is, is this information legitimate and can I follow its
advice without causing my self more harm than good, or is this something
that I should keep my self clear of.

I have kept my self clean of viruses with religious updates and use of
Norton Antivirus since I started computing. With your advice I hope to stay
    that way. :)

    Your help is Greatly Appreciated

    Thank You,

    Wayne R. Russ

I have found mailwasher to be the easiest way to handle my mail and all
    the info there seems legitimate.

Once you have it configured and the correct filters in place, it takes
less than a minute for me to deal with 60-80 spams a day and with a
    dial-up that is important.

BTW, not much point in bouncing a lot of stuff.

  3. Thank You JJ,

Thank You for your input on the information there. It is good to hear
someone else thinks it is OK.

Thank You as well about bouncing e-mails. I have read a bunch about bouncing
e-mails and have decided it better to turn off that feature of MailWasher.

Now all I have to do is to learn how to make good filters. I had never heard
    of RegExpr before. :)

    Thank You Again,

    Wayne R. Russ

Filters work with the variations on MS, Viagra, Penis, Loan, Update,
etc, but your accumulated blacklist will take care of a lot of it after
    a couple of weeks.
