My computer has 2 x 184-pins DDR DIMM sockets, one is holding a memory of
    512mb, the other nothing.

The one fitted is Elixir M2U51264DS8HC36-8K
    512mb DDR-33Mhz CL2.5

Looking at what is availabe I see description of DDR SDRAM, DDR 11SDRAM,
    SD RAM
    What do I require please?

I understand I should get another 512mb and put it in the 2nd. socket. But
should I go greater I wonder if I find prices are not a lot more. If I get
a higher value one do I have to change the present one as well, IE must both
    be same value?

This may help you: http://www.crucial.com/index.asp Plug in your
computer information and read the results. In my case, two 512mb is all
    the memory I can use.
