Incompatible Region Number????

Discussion in 'DVD Video' started by Marshall Dudley, Nov 23, 2004.

  1. Recently when I record a DVD on my new Pioneer DVR-220 DVD Recorder, it
will refuse to play the disk after finalization. It reports
"Incompatible Region Number" and refuses to do anything with it. It
will play it fine before finalization. Also it will play disks it
recorded previously without any problem, and the new recordings will
play fine on my other DVD players, they just won't play on the recorder
    that recorded them.

What's the deal with region numbers? Why would it even have a region
number for a recording I made? It makes no sense.

    Marshall
