What is the best way to connect your IDE channels to your drives. What I want to know is what should be master and slave?

My system is Athlon 1800, Win XP, 512 Ram, Parallel ATA connections. I do a lot of DVD writing and copying.

    The Drives are:

    (a) 60 Gb 7200 Mb with 2Mb Buffer
    (b) DVD reader
    (c) DVD writer
    (d) 120 Gb 7200 Mb with 2 Mb Buffer

    (a) and (b) are on IDE 1 with (a) as master and holding the Operating system
    (c) and (d) are on IDE 2 with (c) as master.

Assuming (a) is fine there are 6 permutations. Any suggestions?

I think the way you have it is fine. You could try swapping the DVD
Reader and Writer and see if it makes any difference, but I doubt it
would. I would leave the hard drives on separate channels like they are
    now.
