Then stop using Google Groups. Use a real NNTP (network news transfer
protocol) client and connect to a real NNTP server to do Usenet.
However, before you even begin, first get a new keyboard as your old one
is broke (the Shift and period keys don't work).

Your IP address shows that you are posting from work at Hewlett-Packard.
HP may not permit NNTP connections because they expect their employees
to spend their hours doing their job while at work. Everything you do
on their network can be tracked and recorded, so if you waste your time
in newsgroups whether using NNTP or HTTP that isn't related to your job
then don't be surprised at your annual review to find a negative comment
in your file that is reflected in your pay raise or the lack of one.
This is a general-purpose newsgroup and HP expects you to call their
Help Desk or IT Dept. if you are having problems with your software or
    computer.

    http://blinkynet.net/comp/uip5.html "blinky" commonly called a
    troll.

Learning about computers is a learning curve, everybody has to start
somewhere. You are better off to read a group you are interested in
and bookmark links that the more experienced users post. Keep your
posts to a minimum and make an effort to look things up instead of
asking stupid questions. Their are thousands of competent users with
degree's and certifications that cannot find a job or make a living in
the industry, learning from Usenet, blog-gs and go-ogle in my opinion
is a god why to learn. Get an old computer and pull it part and see
    how it works. Good luck.

    $ whois 15.219.201.68

    OrgName: Hewlett-Packard Company

Sorry, you appear to live in a foreign country. Only bona fide residents
of the UK can benefit from the NHS. I suggest that you ask your employer
about their medical insurance schemes (but get off usenet and do some work
first or you may not be eligable).

Newcomers to newsgroups should start here

    <http://computer.howstuffworks.com/newsgroup.htm>

    and here

<http://members.fortunecity.com/nnqweb/>, the Official Home Page of the
    newsgroup called news.newusers.questions.

Google Groups is not usenet. Google Groups is a combination of

    1) A searchable archive of most of the articles posted into most
usenet newsgroups in the last 20 years or so, purchased by Google
    from 'DejaNews' who started it.

    2) A badly designed web forum interface to allow reading and posting
    in those newsgroups.

    3) Google's own proprietary web forums, which are not part of usenet.
For reasons of their own, Google do not make the distinction
between their own web forums and the real newsgroups very clear.

    1) is a useful service. 2) and 3) are means of getting people to look at
and occasionally click on the advertisements that Google display, and
    which earn them their money.
