I can not Install Windows Vista Business 64 on my System

Discussion in 'Windows 64bit' started by =?Utf-8?B?SGFyYWxk?=, Jan 29, 2007.

  1. I have currently Windows XP Home 32 bit so an update "on the fly" is impossible

if I Boot with Windows Vista DVD in the Tray the Installation appears also
    the loading screen appears.

Then the Vista Installation Background (Crystal??) appears and i can run the
mouse but no text and no checkboxes are shown.

    I tried following:

    1. removed Ram, Soundcard and all USB stuff except mouse and keyboard
    2. deactivated on-board soundcard
    3. Tried it on both of my DVD Trays

Attached see an excerpt of my DXDiag

  2. It is not the 7900GT video card. I use that one too and had no issues
    during installation.

  3. Hey Harald--

My understanding is that you can't upgrade from the Home Edition. Make sure
to do a clean install on blank partition. Maybe someone else will prove me
wrong, but that's the word on the street.

If booting from the DVD is not working, you may be able to run the install
from within Windows and choose a custom install (not upgrade). However, I
am not sure if you are required to have a free partition available to do
this. (Ideally, you'd install over your present Windows partition, and it
would leave you with a WINDOWS.OLD directory containing your old
    installation.)
