HP scanner IE script errors

  1. Hello out there! May i thank someone in advance for taking the time to help
me! I run an HP 3570 scanner, Win98SE, & IE-6. All of a sudden, when
    clicking on HP Director, on
desktop, a couple of IE Script errors. The 1st is Line 261 character
4.....the 2nd is Line 185 character 2. IF i try to scan with the scanner
button itself, i get other errors
    (1097/7...202/4...282/8...471/7...463/7,,,69/1). I tried
uninstalling/reinstalling the HP software. I did an IE repair. I deleted
through program files, the Digital Images folder, etc, etc, etc. I repaired
IE, i got rid of IE6 & reinstalled IE5.5...just to see. Still the same
problem. I did more repairs, uninstalls/reinstalls, etc. Yes i took out the
USB cord when doing this. Thus...after all "new/reinstalled/repaired
components, i STILL have the same script errors!!

BTW...all IE settings have been set to their default settings . HH EE LL
PP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I upgraded my Direct X also,
like MS reccommends, etc. Maybe i missed/goofed up something?!?!?! Lastly, i
called DELL today (i have an XPS T-600), & THEY couldn't get it to start
scanning properly. With 2 diff IE versions though, it would not seem to me
to be an IE error...just an HP error. Is there a resident genius out there
who knows about this? My sincere, honest
    thanks!!!....befuddled/confused/angry/frustrated.....Jerry
