Over the course of the last few weeks, I have posted everywhere I can think
of (including here, of course) questions about an old parallel HP printer
that prints jittery on only one XP pro machine. It stubbornly prints fine
on other XP and Win98 machines. I tried almost every suggestion, but a few
dozen of my own until I decided to do the ultimate: I reformatted the HD
    and reinstalled everything from scratch.

    Darned thing works perfectly now.

Oh well, I probably spent way too many hours bothering people about this,
but I still had interest in the problem - even though it would have been
cheaper to just toss the machine.

Thank you to all who replied - sometimes the easiest solution is not the
    one that works best.
