    Hi,
I am trying to play video lectures in asx format (wmv) in Windows
media player at faster than 2x. At 2x the audio is fine, but there is
distortion at any speed above two. At 2.1, I get popping noises that
appear in the audio. I would like to play at 2.5x or 3x, but the
popping noises really make it difficult.

    Thanks

Can't say I know of any media player that doesn't chop the audio over 2 x.
