Home-grown virus?

Discussion in 'NZ Computing' started by Lawrence D¹Oliveiro, Nov 18, 2003.

  1. Four times now, over the past couple of weeks, I have received e-mail
messages containing executable attachments, purportedly from the same
Xtra user. The header indicated that it was indeed sent from an Xtra
    address.

However, all the messages had slightly corrupted headers (including a
spurious blank line), which means the attachment isn't directly
recognized as an attachment by my e-mail client (Mac Outlook Express, so
I don't have to worry about viruses in any case).

One of the attachments was named "TENA RA KOUTOU.bat". Either this name
was taken at random from the user's hard drive, or we are looking at a
virus which is at least partly Kiwi in origin.

Anybody know any more about this?
