High CPU load - 7200

Discussion in 'Cisco' started by Darren Parker, Feb 11, 2004.

  1. Hello
I have a 7200 with high CPU utilisation ie. 99%. Off one of the ports, is a
subnet with an immense amount of multicast traffic. No other networks have
any groups it should all be contained within that one subnet, but the 7200's
CPU is getting constantly hit. Any ideas to stop the multicast traffic from
    hitting the CPU??
    TIA
    Darren

You could put up an access-list that will drop the multicast packets
before hitting the "where do I have to send this packet to?" decision
    part of the router.
