Hello there just wondering if someone can tell me where I
can go to find a basic answer.

Have searched the site but still confused. Need to know if
it is possible to write a name on one workbook in excel
and then have it come up in the second workbook.

Is this possible or can someone let me know where I can go
    to find the answer

    Cheers

If the name is in Book1, Sheet1, cell A1 and you want it to appear in the
second Workbook just type the following reference in the target cell:

    =[Book1]Sheet1!A$1$

The name will be updated automatically in Book2 if it changes in Book1.
