I have XP Pro and have a short-cut on the desktop that brings up drive G in
file Explorer. How do I make the short-cut open G with the folders open in
the left pane? Right now I have to click the icon on the toolbar. Tks.

Edit the target properties to read like this:
    C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e,G:\
