we have a ton of CD games for 3-8 y.o. (all legal) I have some old PC/Mac s
set up so that when the kids come over they can play on the computer, The
young one play *at* computer with the really old stuff the older kids get
the better equipment as that seem to work best all around.

I'd like to set these up so that they don't have to access the CDs to play
the games. How to do this without networking or other complicated systems?

You could install cd emulator software,

Have you tried copying the contents of the cd's to a folder, then installing
from the folder rather than from the cd ? This often works with 'older'
software .. and some newer stuff .. ;)
