This has got me and my fiancee going round the bed at the mo....
we have 2 pc's on a LAN through an ADSL router, both are duron 800's and
running xp pro [devils own version] they both have all the latest patches
except SP1 for obvious reasons. The one I use runs fine whereas the one my
fiancee uses has been a complete nightmare! I've stoped counting how many
installs and re-installs we have had to do. If anything is installed in it
it will do one of a handfull of things :-

1- BSOD in middle of using the app or game and this will happen EVERY TIME
    its ran
2- after areboot or two it refuses to start windows [sometimes even in safe
    mode]
3- seems to be totallly allergic to ANY antivirus software! it's guarenteed
to make it **** up straight away.

I've replaced the ram [256mb sdram] and have 2 drives [both
8.6gig ]installed on it. its usings a asrock m810 mobo and all driver have
    been updated etc...
it uses the via chipset and has on board graphics [32mb shared] and sound
and LAN [the LAN has been disabled in the BIOS as we use a PCI network card]
the damn thing has been defragged within an inch of its life and I've ran
just about every prog i can think of to try and sort it.
its as if it will only allow windows and nothing else to run. [apart from
the many explorer errors we are getting...
has anyone any ideas as neither of us can think of anything else to try!
and needless to say I'd like to have both pc's running on top form. I can
'take it back to the shop' as it was built by me and uptill the mobo was
replaced [due to a power surge frying the old one] its worked like a dream
    for a few years.
Thanks in advance for the help.

If your email address is good, I'll send you a keygen. Unpatched boxes, like
the one you have, are a danger to the entire internet.
