HELP! mservices.exe??

Discussion in 'Computer Security' started by Gianni Bragante, Apr 11, 2004.

  1. Today I have tried to run my favorite photo editor (photoline) and I have
noticed it does not start. Removed it and reinstalled but with no result.
I have launched it againg noticing what is going on in Task Manager and I
have found that a strange MSERVICES.EXE is run before. While photoline.exe
is hanged a strange FTP traffic is generated: something is logging in to
several FTP sites, changes directory and logs out. Terminating photoline.exe
    this traffic stops.
I have also noticed that mservices.exe is run before *any* other program and
then terminates while the FTP traffic is observed only running photoline.
mservices.exe is 400.103 bytes in size, dated 2003-07-09 and has the read
only attribute. I have renamed this file but then any program I run I get an
error stating that the executable or any component is missing.
On another Windows XP computer this file simply not exists.
Who knows what is, why is there and what it does? And how can I get rid of
    it?

    Thanks
