Since the end of January, some genuine messages have stopped. John Key's
newsletter is one. The last that came in was marked as spam, so I reported
it as false positive to Trend Micro.
Also the Village Voice (an American newspaper) has failed to arrive.

    Outlook Express, xtra, Trendmicro.
Which would be responsible, (I don't think it is Trendmicro) and what can I
    do about it please?
If I take all the spam filters off I'll get hundreds of spam messages each
    day.

It's all Xtra's fault. They have large email issues now they are
YahooXtra. Call threir helpdesk and get them to talk you through it all.

Thank you. I don't get much spam, but if they keep treating genuine messages
as spam I will try what you say.
    I never reply to spam.

John Key's office has told me what to do with xtra, (it seems there are
problems since xtra involved Yahoo), so I'm going to try that first and find
the messages. Village Voice is probably there too. Everything else I
subscribe to seems to be arriving.

I've already got xtramail, Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail addresses but never use
    them.

The spellchecker says xtramail is "travail". Quite right too!

Yeah, me too, different mail client, different ISP, and different virus
protection. I didn't check why John Boy's epistle was marked as SPAM.

I don't there is much you can do, except regular scan the SPAM folders.

    Cheers,

    Cliff

However, John's epistle was marked as SPAM for me too, and it went
    nowhere near Xtra.

His office says there is a problem and they are working on it. It seems
others are getting his messages stopped as spam.
It's happening since xtra joined Yahoo.

Could our Helen be behind it? I wonder!

I tried the advice xtra provides, "What to do with legitimate emails being
marked as Spam". There are pages of it.

But I couldn't find anything about emails that are removed as Spam before
they ever get to the computer. There used to be a place where they could be
found, with xtramail, but it seems to have disappeared.

Does anyone have a website for finding those please?

Re: Genuine messages stopped as spam

(Just noticed the typo of Genuine. Sorry folks)

If you are missing John Key's Keynotes, google http://johnkey.co.nz and
    click on Keynotes.

If anyone else is missing Village Voice, google www.villagevoice.com.

Now why didn't I think of that before? Dumb!

By the way, spam e-mails in HTML format sometimes have things called "web
bugs" in them. These are small embedded images accessed via a link unique
to the message that was sent to you. So when your mail reader sends a
request to their server for the image, they can tell you've got the
    message.

No, they seem quite capable of doing that on their own. :)

Sometimes the spammers send a request that I have read the message. I don't
    answer.
