A previous post asked if Avast has been notified of the shutdown problem
    with their program.
I have visited the forums and this has been a problem for years and with all
versions from at least Windows98 on.
Does not seem to be a priority to fix.

If you don't have shutdown problems (I don't) works fine. If you do,
uninstall and try one of the others.

eTrust Antivirus 7.1 most reasonable if you search
    nod32 well respected reasonable
McAfee and Norton Corporate editions necessary and expensive.

  4. Andre, if John isn't a Vista tester then you should see if you can find a
thread on an Avast forum and condense the info for the Vista
    application_compatibility thread going about AV's.
