The fonts in Firefox 0.8 were fine, but with 0.9 and 0.9.1 the fonts look
terrible. I've tried changing my default fonts, changing sizes,
enabling/disabling anti-aliasing/hinting. I've heard that they switched the
system that handles font rendering (either through gtk or gnome or
something), but in my opinion it is considerably worse now. Hope this gets
    resolved before 1.0 hits!

The official builds of Firefox for Linux 0.9.x still use GTK2 for the
interface, including font rendering. If your fonts are not anti-aliased,
go back to mozilla.org and download the official build of Firefox. You
may have gotten one compiled without GTK2.

I have Firefox 0.9.1 and Thunderbird 0.7.1 both installed on my Linux
partition and I have not had any problems with fonts.

Just for reference, someone posted a similar problem in one of these
newsgroups. Fonts looked great on Linux, but they were garbage on
Windows. A properly configured Linux system should yield perfect fonts
    with a good Firefox build.

How are the fonts in other GTK2 applications? If they also look bad,
then I would be willing to bet the problem is not related to Firefox.
