It works for me. Do you have the ActiveX plugin for FF?

  3. Ok. I guess I am an idiot. I don't know how to see if I have the
plugin, nor how to obtain it (I think). I went to the website
    http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/plugin.htm#download but the click here
link doesn't work. I downloaded the .xpi file, but what do i do with
that? Filetype says PAZIP, but I am unable to uncompress this file,
assuming that's what I am supposed to do with it.

I read that npmozax.dll is a key file, but is it the only file I need?

Ultimately I am wondering why Firefox won't just go get the file I need.
Or is this a case of needing one file so that Firefox can then get
another one to watch the video?

    Thanks

  4. OK, ty. I figured why the click here link didn't work. Firefox was
preventing it, so I edited the options to allow it. It installed. Now
    I must go from here.

  5. Interesting. I successfully dl/installed the activex plugin, but the
video still doesn't work. It still says "Click here to download
plugin". When I click on the video, the Plugin Finder Service window
opens, but does nothing. It just sits there.

Any help is appreciated because I am lost.

Open Extensions on FF, dragndrop that XPI file onto that window. Or
Click install from that window and find the XPI file.

Hmm... works just fine on this computer...

    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041225 Firefox/1.0

I'll have to check a Windows computer later.

Yep. Works fine in Windows XP too. It's playing the videos with
    Quicktime, no special trickery involved.

Thinks TWICE before you add the Active X security hole to a fine browser
    like Firefox ...

2.8. Does Mozilla support ActiveX controls? (Windows)

Mozilla does not support ActiveX controls natively. A plug-in for
ActiveX controls (which also works with Netscape 4.x) is in development,
with limitations: it will not download or install controls itself, and
it will only host controls that are already installed and marked safe
for scripting, so it is not as insecure as ActiveX normally is. The
current plug-in does not yet allow controls to be scripted.

You can read about the plug-in at the Mozilla ActiveX Project.

Note that ActiveX can pose a security risk to your computer.

Unless you KNOW that you need Active X, GET RID OF IT.

You have just opened up a huge security hole.

    WTF!!!???

Why are you even using Firefox? Seriously.
Why would you bypass one of Firefox's
    best security protections?

Just go back to IE and use a pop-up blocker!

    Sheesh!

Oh, BTW, the movie in Question uses Quicktime,
    that's all you need.

What version Firefox do you have? I updated mine to 1.0 and that seemed
to fix the problem. I also upgraded the Java plugin, that might have
    helped to.

I don't believe the ActiveX plugin supports full ActiveX... just Media
Player stuff. But I've never looked at it...

It wont get installed on my puter. Active X is where all the spyware
    and hijackings begin in IE.

I get those annoying "click here to download plugin" messages all the
time, and the same thing, when I click on them nothing happens. It's
very irritating. I dont want plugins. I wish the browser would just
leave me alone and stop asking me to download plugins.

I love Firefox, but I have had one major complaint about it. There
are not enough options to turn off (and on) features. I'd love to
just shut off that thing, so it never asks me to download plugins
again. Another option needed is one to turn off Flash Player.

I like the simplicity of Firefox, but please add some more options.
I hope this message gets passed onto Firefox to consider in their next
    upgrade....

A lot depends on the specific page/site you get the plug in warning
from. Is it serving the file with the correct mime type for example?
