FF 2.0 and saved passwords

I am running a XP SP2 laptop with the productive version of FF 2.0

The saved passwords function doesn't seem to work anymore. Logging into
a web site and check the save password check box and I am in. But, when
I come back to the site, I have to type in my ID & password again. I
have the "remember passwords for sites" selected and nothing in the
    exceptions option.

Reloaded FF, rebooted and no joy. When I hit the "show passwords"
    option, nothing is there.

    Any ideas?

Also, has anyone noticed that the FF process sometimes hangs? Not a big
deal, since you can kill the process, but it is annoying.

    Thanks.
