    HOW IT WORKS
aaa-reports! imports ACS log files (CSV files) and consolidates the
data into a single internal database (one database for each log type)
allowing the user to query, search, analyze and report on data for a
whole period regardless of the number of original log files.
aaa-reports! also handles the practical issues of working with large
numbers of logs to ensure users can't import duplicate data and never
have to manually move or open log files. It will safely ignore
‘active' log files and, by default, selectively extract data for just
the attributes it needs. Users can optionally import any given
    attribute including User Defined Attributes.

    FEATURE SUMMARY
aaa-reports! contains a comprehensive set of trend, summary and detail
reports that enterprises need to understand how their service is
really being used, abused, attacked and administered. Almost every
aspect is covered; from utilization analysis and capacity planning to
security and bill back. Reports can be viewed on screen immediately or
run as a batch and saved as PDF files either directly to an intranet or
for emailing as attachments. Users can also build and retain complex
queries, perform string searches and even export the results to a
spreadsheet for further analysis. In fact, some Cisco TACs are using
aaa-reports! to analyze customer log data in support cases.

    CONFIGURATION WITH ACS
Because aaa-reports! imports log files without any direct
interoperability with ACS, installation and configuration is simple
and flexible. aaa-reports! can either be installed to the ACS server or
to a workstation so long as the user has sufficient permissions to
access, open and move log files. Initial configuration is mainly focused
on ACS logging to ensure that ACS logs all the attributes aaa-reports!
requires for reports. aaa-reports! includes a Configuration Report that
details all logging requirements. The Trial Version from www.extraxi.com
also ships with sample data to allow a complete evaluation without
    importing any customer logs.

    ADVANTAGES OVER IN-HOUSE SOLUTIONS
The simplicity of aaa-reports! belies the underlying difficulties working
with multiple CSV log files, flexible attribute content and large volumes
of data. Volume alone makes spreadsheet analysis impractical whilst
database solutions require manual data import and management. Some of our
customers had previously used in-house semi-automated solutions but they
still required considerable manual effort and a great deal of care.
Solutions can also fall apart simply by updating ACS logging to include
more attributes. Consequently, ACS users often do little or no reporting.
One customer estimated they spent 2 days each month producing basic reports
for their hosted ACS customers. With aaa-reports! they now produce a
comprehensive set of well presented reports in a matter of minutes.

AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE ACS SOLUTION
System integrators and resellers are also becoming more aware of customer
reporting requirements and several have started to recommend aaa-reports! as
an integral part of their delivered Cisco Secure ACS solutions.
