I found an EXE file in Opera's cache folder. Called opr01P30.exe.

In fact, it was my antivirus program that found it.

I thought a browser like Opera would not download an EXE file without me
    knowing. Is this true?

I don't think (of course now I am uncertain) I pressed anything with looked
    suspicious.

Did you check the task manager to see if that file was running?
Google doesn't return anyhting on that file. It usually will if it's
listed on any AV sites. It maybe a legit opera file.
