Exam 70-292 - KNOWN ISSUE (UK) + 70-296 + 70-29n

    All,

    I have just taken 70-292 in the UK, and I lost about one
    minute between each question! While the next question
    loaded. The timer also kept on running.

    When I spoke with the test centre administrator he
    informed me that this problem has been going on for a
    while. The engine crashed on me, and the survey part
    didn't load, and wouldn't come back!

    I have been speaking with the exam group (Thomson
    Prometric) and have finally found that they have known
    about this problem for, at least, several weeks BUT DON'T
    advise you when you book the exam that the product is
    defective.

    They also claim Microsoft is aware of this situation, but
    don't seem overly concerned about fixing it. It is nice
    to know that Microsoft cares so much about it's MCSAs &
    MCSEs and encouraging them to upgrade their certification
    with a defective set of exams.

    The exam group told me that this problem also affects all
    70-29x exams, apart from 297 & 298.

    If you are planning on taking any of these exams, then I
    would strongly recommend speaking to the exam group to
    book it, and ask about the problems, as you may be able to
    get extra time added (I have managed this for my retest).
    Also if enough people shout then Microsoft/exam group have
    to do something about it.

    I had experienced the exact same problems yesterday when
    I took 70-292 and failed it. It took a long time to load
    each question and/or refresh the screen. Also, when the
    time ran out which was right after I finished the last
    question, the exam crashed, then asked me if I wanted to
    continue, and then went back to the start screen. When I
    went to the front desk of the testing center the lady at
    the front was taking my results off the printer where I
    learned I had failed from her exclamation of, "Oh, that
    must have been a hard one." Yea, this sucked real
    hardcore and I feel like I should get a discount or
    something from the price of retaking it. I feel like I
    lost over 5 minutes total time just waiting on each
    questions to load.

    Give the exam group a call, and raise a complaint. The
    test centre should have also raised a MAGIC TICKET at the
    time of the incident.

    Tell the exam group that you want a free retest, and extra
    time added due to the engine being sub-standard.

    You were lucky you lost only five minutes, I think I lost
    between 30 and 45 minutes - I didn't have a stop watch,
    but the next time I will!

    Hey, thanks for the advice and your initial post. I have
    complained to Prometric and they have rescheduled my exam
    free of charge. I'm glad I read your initial post
    because I thought I had done something wrong that was
    causing the questions to take such a long time loading.
    All I need to do know it be prepared to pass the next
    time. Any suggestions in that area? LOL :)

    The biggest area on the exam was DNS, and Zones/etc. SUS
    wasn't a problem as it is a new product MS don't expect
    you to know it inside out (perhaps they do for the MCSE!)

    I used the MSPress book, but the majority of the questions
    could be answered by someone who knows 2000.

    Also some of the aspects covered creeped towards the MCSE
    upgrade exam areas, so have a quick look into that area
    such as auditing and security. Also know the screens to
    change different auditing levels (hi-light correct fields
    questions).

    Also a couple of questions mentioned Application
    Directories, which surprised me as that is more in the
    line of MCSE, and not A!

    I should be taking mine again soon, but all future ones
    will not be with Prometric, VNU do the same exams - not
    sure if they know of the them problem, but that is
    something to sort out later!!

    I have just spoken with Microsoft UK - MCP Learning
    Centre, and they are not aware of any issues in relation
    to this, so I've raised a complaint ticket, and they will
    be in contact with the States.....
