error message

    recently wiped and re-installed windows xp on a friends computer, boots up without problem with me but when he tries to boot up it starts to boot then gets the error message 'out of range' the only difference is that he has a tft monitor mine is a crt.
    can anyone help please:-(

    Go in the BIOS and verify that the 1st boot device is the HD0 or Harddrive. It look to me that the pc is trying to boot from a network.
