Which is a better AA battery, the new high capacity Eneloop XX (2500 mAh)
or the higher capacity Uniross Hybrio (2400 mAh)?

In the UK they both cost about the same at £11 for a pack of 4.

If the Hybrio offers 2400 mAh, it has *lower* capacity than the 2500
    Eneloop.

Eneloop comes from a manufacturer with a long track record of
innovative, high quality products. Uniross appears to buy from a
range of no-brand low cost manufacturers who will put any customer
    brand on the merchandise.

    I would choose the Eneloop.

    I agree on Eneloop.

BTW: perhaps the wording was meant to be "higher capacity Eneloop" and
"higher capacity Uniross" - i.e. both manufacturers' newer ranges.

It's a no-brainer. An excellent product from an excellent
    manufacturer.

Manufacturer's claims of nominal capacity are not always comparable.

This group test of low discharge rechargeable batteries shows how the
capacity of brands (including Eneloops) can fall short of the claims.

Unfortunately they haven't tested the Eneloop XX or the High Capacity
Hybrio, so I was asking here.

That very much depends on what you need.
IF you need the 500-600 mAh extra that the XX provides AND you
cannot charge a conventional 3000mAh (non-low self discharge)
cell a short time before using it, then the XX may be better than
    the standard Eneloop.

If not, the standard Eneloop can be recharged twice as often and
    is thus "better".

Probably the same is true for the Hybrio.
