An online Introduction to Programming course in our community college is taken by those who choose career paths in areas such as Computer Support Specialist, Network Specialists, DataBase Developer,Network Administrators, and Software Developers. Originally we had a course in VB.Net but felt that the 3 hour course was too narrow and overly detailed for these majors.
Instead, we are considering a two language course that covers basic business applications.
Languages under consideration are Java, VB.Net, and VC#.Net.

Given the Visual Studio IDE and the heavy use of these languages in our market, we tend to favor using C# and VB in parallel for the first third of the course in which students write the same program in each language.
After that, the student would continue in the single language of his/her choice.

Your constructive comments and opinions (pro and con) are invited.
