Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of GRAFFITI BRIDGE, THE HISTORY OF
ROCK 'N' ROLL, THE HOUSEHOLDER, THE HUMAN STAIN, LA BELLE NOISEUSE,
SAINT SEIYA: SILVER ASSASSINS (VOLUME 6), SLASHER, THUNDERBIRDS:
INTERNATIONAL RESCUE EDITION, UNDER THE CHERRY MOON, V: THE COMPLETE
SERIES, WALT DISNEY TREASURES: MICKEY MOUSE IN LIVING COLOR, WALT
DISNEY TREASURES: SILLY SYMPHONIES, and WEDDING PEACH: SUMMER FLOWER
    (VOLUME 4):

GRAFFITI BRIDGE (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 55/100):
"Give him a microphone, and Prince will show you where his true
passion comes from. The songs express everything much more clearly
than the script, and they even give you more to chew on than anything
    in the movie."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/graffitibridge.php

THE HISTORY OF ROCK 'N' ROLL (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall
    score 100/100):
"Although the set is first and foremost about the music itself, the
creators of The History of Rock 'N' Roll never forget to look outside of
the music in order to try and understand it. After all, rock didn't
develop in a vacuum, and I was impressed with the honesty and social
awareness of both the creators and the rock stars that were
    interviewed."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/historyrocknroll.php

THE HOUSEHOLDER (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 79/100):
"It may be stating the obvious, but part of the magic is that The
Householder is the first collaboration between director James Ivory,
producer Ismail Merchant, and screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. As
such, the movie has historical significance because these three went on
to become one of the most successful tandems in movie history."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/householder.php

THE HUMAN STAIN (reviewed by Lacey Worrell, overall score 85/100):
"Yes, Kidman is miscast, and yes, at times it is difficult to even buy
Hopkins in his role. Yet the two of them manage, despite a weak script,
to create a lyrical discourse through glances, touches, and tone."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/humanstain.php

LA BELLE NOISEUSE (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall score 90/100):
"La Belle Noiseuse is less concerned with its masterpiece, though, than
with the symbiotic relationship between artist and model, and how that
symbiosis becomes the source of a work of art."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/labellenoiseuse.php

SAINT SEIYA: SILVER ASSASSINS (VOLUME 6) (reviewed by Sandra Dozier,
    overall score 83/100):
"Saint Seiya is a love song of martial arts and special attacks. With a
large cast of characters, there are dozens of stories to satisfy every
    dramatic whim. "

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/saintseiyavol6.php

SLASHER (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 82/100):
"Documentaries have picked up in the past few years, and a lot of them
have focused closely on the American government and corporations. While
most of these seem to have important points to make, it was refreshing
to sit down to Slasher, which has no such pretensions. It just wants to
be entertaining, give us a little insight into the used car business,
and serve it all up with a sweet soul soundtrack."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/slasher.php

THUNDERBIRDS: INTERNATIONAL RESCUE EDITION (reviewed by Paul Corupe,
    overall score 90/100):
"If bigger and better was what Thunderbirds fans were looking for
when the series made the jump to celluloid, these films certainly
    delivered it."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/thunderbirdsintlrescue.php

UNDER THE CHERRY MOON (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 64/100):
"It's a movie Twinkie. You know it's bad for you and full of gooey
cream, but you still like one every now and then."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/undercherrymoon.php

V: THE COMPLETE SERIES (reviewed by Neil Dorsett, overall score 64/100):
"Between its hybrid and cheesy nature (retrograde for science fiction,
even twenty years ago), its low budget, the time slot, and the level of
backstory involved, V: The Series never really had a chance."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/vcompleteseries.php

WALT DISNEY TREASURES: MICKEY MOUSE IN LIVING COLOR (reviewed by Mike
    Pinsky, overall score 89/100):
"You, dear Mickey, seem more successful as icon than as subject, more
powerful in the wings than in the spotlight, and more beloved in memory
    than in person."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/mickeymouseinlivingcolor.php

WALT DISNEY TREASURES: SILLY SYMPHONIES (reviewed by Mike Pinsky,
    overall score 94/100):
"Depression-era audiences wanted escape from their sense of economic and
cultural failure, while post-war audiences would seek to embrace
commercial success. Consider the success of the screwball comedy in the
1930s. Consider the wild antics of pulp heroes. Consider cartoons."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/sillysymphonies.php

WEDDING PEACH: SUMMER FLOWER (VOLUME 4) (reviewed by Sandra Dozier,
    overall score 85/100):
"I have observed that people typically have one of two reactions to this
series: They either hate it immediately and want to mulch it in their
wood chipper, or they embrace it and allow themselves to indulge the
lofty (but never saccharine) ideals of Momoko and her friends."

    Mike,

The sheer TIMING of your reviews for these two titles is astounding.
I'm going to drive out to my nearest B&M store and purchase these two
right away, or better yet, purchase them online! ;-)

Better late than never, eh? The writer of those reviews originally wrote
them for daily-reviews.com, but now that they're defunct, he's moving over
some of the reviews that we don't have online.
