Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BENNY HILL, COMPLETE AND
UNADULTERATED: THE NAUGHTY EARLY YEARS, SET ONE, DA ALI G SHOW: DA
COMPLEET FIRST SEAZON, THE GIRL NEXT DOOR: UNRATED EDITION, THE
HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, and SOAP:
    THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON:

BENNY HILL, COMPLETE AND UNADULTERATED: THE NAUGHTY EARLY YEARS, SET ONE
(reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 90/100):
"It's a real shame Hill is considered such a second-class concept in
sketch comedy. Granted, most of his gags have hairs on them older than
your grandmother's wattle, and he never met a pair of breasts he
couldn't ogle like an orphan on wet-nurse day, but one does not achieve
international stardom on the basis of talentlessness -- unless, of
course, one has recently won American Idol (*rimshot*)."

DA ALI G SHOW: DA COMPLEET FIRST SEAZON (reviewed by David Ryan, overall
    score 92/100):
"All of Cohen's characters are absurd, and they push people towards
extremes on a regular basis. It may seem like idiocy, but in the end,
when you stop to think about it, it's revealing a heck of a lot about
the people on the receiving end of that idiocy."

THE GIRL NEXT DOOR: UNRATED EDITION (reviewed by Patrick Bromley,
    overall score 81/100):
"The best teenage sex-coms try to find the voice of the teenage boy,
then tell the story through the lens of adult experience and maturity.
The Girl Next Door, however, has no such lens -- it's made not only for
but apparently by horny adolescent males."

THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall
    score 96/100):
"We also learn the real origin of the human race. I know more than a
few people descended from used car salesmen. And the final scene makes
clear what I have suspected all along about my wife's brilliance at
the game of Scrabble: a hyperdimensional supercomputer is feeding her
    the answers."

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (reviewed by a panel, overall score 90/100):
"What made Christ's passion so substantial, argues Christianity, was the
absence of God the Father. Multitudes of followers from that point on
suffered horrendous fates, but these folks had their Creator to lean on.
With Jesus, He was solo, and the fact that God literally turned away
from the Son represents a fate unfathomable outside of the angelic
courts. The film succeeded in transmitting this message. In the Garden,
it is obvious that Christ is alone; his confrontation with the Tempter,
bolstered by the symbolic clouding of the moon, then strengthened from
his march to the Place of the Skull, is a literal God-less trek."

SOAP: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by Sandra Dozier, overall
    score 85/100):
"What is perhaps the most surprising thing about Soap is the moments of
genuine sentiment and feeling that are sprinkled among the yuks and
hijinks. One moment you could be laughing along with a joke or
circumstance, and the next moment there is an unexpected lump in your
throat when an actor delivers a touching performance or line, usually
talking about their love for their family members."
