Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE BOSTON STRANGLER, BRAIN DONORS,
I WANT A DOG FOR CHRISTMAS, CHARLIE BROWN, JERSEY GIRL, THE LADYKILLERS,
THE MEMOIRS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, THE NAME OF THE ROSE, STAR TREK:
GENERATIONS: COLLECTOR'S EDITION, and YOUNG THUGS: NOSTALGIA:

THE BOSTON STRANGLER (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall score 83/100):
"If you can get past the gimmicky split screen effects and accept them
as 'of their time,' you'll be surprised to find that The Boston
Strangler is an overlooked treat worth investigating, if only for
Curtis' masterful performance as Albert DeSalvo."

BRAIN DONORS (reviewed by Patrick Naugle, overall score 95/100):
"Brain Donors is a movie about very little, and in this case it's a
    good thing."

I WANT A DOG FOR CHRISTMAS, CHARLIE BROWN (reviewed by David Ryan,
    overall score 86/100):
"Even the death of Charles Shultz (ironically, just after he had retired
from drawing the 'Peanuts' comic strip) didn't slow things down.
'Peanuts,' and its gentle, non-offensive humor, are timeless; there's no
    compelling reason to stop now."

JERSEY GIRL (reviewed by Patrick Naugle, overall score 87/100):
"What happened to Smith's patented rants about comic books, the female
anatomy, and Star Wars? Apparently Smith has grown up, and some of us
are too immature to come along for the ride."

THE LADYKILLERS (reviewed by Diane Wild, overall score 77/100):
"His speeches are labyrinthine masterpieces of hot air, and Hanks seems
to be channeling Satan, Mark Twain, and an asthmatic rabbit all at the
same time. This is not a subtle performance. But then, this is not a
    subtle movie."

THE MEMOIRS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES (reviewed by Maurice Cobbs, overall
    score 90/100):
"Brett truly established the definitive Holmes -- no small task in
performing a role that had previously been played by such luminary
actors as Peter Cushing and Basil Rathbone. The extra dimension that
Brett brought to the role was a kind of delightful unpredictability,
developing the character to make him as accessible as he was eccentric."

THE NAME OF THE ROSE (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall score 82/100):
"Best considered a companion to the book rather than a direct
adaptation, Annaud's film succeeds on its own terms as a literate
whodunit drenched in period detail and appropriately gothic touches."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/namerose.php

STAR TREK: GENERATIONS: COLLECTOR'S EDITION (reviewed by a panel,
    overall score 71/100):
"You can't beat the house rules, and the rules state that odd-numbered
Star Trek movies must suck. And so Star Trek Generations (technically
Star Trek VII), instead of being a triumphant passing of the baton from
one crew to another, turned out to be a somewhat muddled problem of a
    motion picture."

YOUNG THUGS: NOSTALGIA (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 90/100):
"Even though this prequel came only a year after Young Thugs: Innocent
Blood, it is a far more mature film, and one that I can recommend
heartily. It's a delightful mix of comedy and tragedy, and it does a
fantastic job of filling out the backstories of the characters that we
came to know in the first film."
