Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE ALAMO, BILL COSBY HIMSELF,
GODFORSAKEN, KNOCKABOUT, K'S CHOICE - 10 1993-2003 TEN YEARS OF,
MASQUES, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, NFL FILMS: THE PHILADELPHIA
EAGLES: THE COMPLETE HISTORY, and THE RULING CLASS: CRITERION
    COLLECTION:

THE ALAMO (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score 74/100):
"Dogged adherence to factual accuracy gives The Alamo a gritty and
realistic feel. When Lieutenant Colonel J.C. Neill is showing Travis the
shored-up pike wall, and nonchalantly indicating that an 18-pounder is
enough to secure the corner, it dawns on you that you are there watching
the real Alamo. Their Alamo is more real than the actual Alamo."

BILL COSBY HIMSELF (reviewed by Neil Dorsett, overall score 91/100):
    "With every word that could seem bitter or angry there is a loving tone;
this is a man who, despite his henpecked and harangued situation, does
not regret his children. He's having fun, his own way, through the wars,
and getting along with his kids."

GODFORSAKEN (reviewed by David Packard, overall score 87/100):
"In the end, this is one of the better films I've had the pleasure of
viewing. If you're a newbie to the world of foreign film, as I am, this
is a great place to start. It's no surprise this film won Best Director,
Best Actor, and Best Screenplay at the 2003 Netherlands Film Festival."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/godforsaken.php

KNOCKABOUT (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 88/100):
"Add to that some ridiculously absurd 'monkey-fighting' -- yeah, I'm
serious -- and Knockabout accomplishes what a noteworthy kung fu film
should: its sets itself apart from the others."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/knockabout.php

K'S CHOICE - 10 1993-2003 TEN YEARS OF (reviewed by Brett Cullum,
    overall score 90/100):
"Sara reminds me of a cleaned up Liz Phair, or the mysterious love child
of Sheryl Crow and the guys from Candlebox. If you like to snuggle up in
your flannel and reminisce about the summer of Lilith Fair then this is
    the ultimate DVD for you."

MASQUES (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall score 90/100):
"Masques wouldn't be a Claude Chabrol film if its intrigue wasn't laced
with not-so-subtle political subtext. It's as much an expose of the
power of the bourgeoisie to shape society's rules -- stacking the deck
in their own favor -- as it is a mystery-thriller."

    FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/masques.php

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (reviewed by Amanda DeWees, overall
    score 86/100):
"Murder on the Orient Express is a prime example of the they-don't-make-'em-like-they-used-
to film. It's rare if not unheard of these days to see a good old-
fashioned mystery given big-screen treatment; crime dramas we have
aplenty, and suspense thrillers, but not this kind of classic plot."

NFL FILMS: THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: THE COMPLETE HISTORY (reviewed by
    David Ryan, overall score 96/100):
"In most towns (say, New York), if you ask a booing fan to explain why
they're booing, they'll usually attempt to stammer 'because they suck!'
before vomiting on you. Not in Philly. Ask an Iggles fan why they're
booing, and you're more likely to get a reply like 'because that moron
didn't pick up the zone blitz and break off his route to the outside, so
McNabb could hit him with a slant.' If you're in the upper deck, they
will probably then attempt to punch you."

THE RULING CLASS: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall
    score 90/100):
"Explaining the rambling plot of The Ruling Class, Peter Medak's
adaptation of Peter Barnes's play (starring Peter O'Toole -- you figure
it out) may itself be an exercise in insanity."
